7. QUARTERLY REGISTRATION:
Procedural notes for administrators working with students

College Students
College students select, add/drop, and view their quarterly courses on-line via the College's Course Registration System, which is accessed at the URL: http://registrar.uchicago.edu. Students log into the system using their CNet-ID's and CNet Passwords. These items may be confirmed/ obtained at http://cnet.uchicago.edu. Students are enabled to use the service by the College Dean ofStudents.

College students whose current quarter accounts are in good standing (they are not restricted for outstanding tuition and fees, immunization, or other reasons) use the Course Registration System to select and rank their preferences (1-6) for the Autumn, Winter, and Spring quarters during the eighth week of the preceding quarters (during eighth week of Spring for Autumn). During Finals Week they are able to make adds/drops, as well as during the first three weeks of the quarter. When adding a course during the add/drop process, the Course Registration System will expect the student to enter a ranking of "0" (zero).

College students wishing to add a course that is already filled, that requires the consent of the instructor for any enrollment, or any adds during the second and third weeks of the quarter, must obtain a signed pink Registration Consent Form from the course instructor which is then brought to the Office of the University Registrar for processing.

Graduate Students in the Divisions
In general, graduate students in the four Divisions register by first going to their departments and obtaining registration forms listing their quarterly courses. These are then delivered to their area Deans of Students offices where the course information is entered into the student information systems by staff. Students in the professional schools are registered by their respective Deans of Students staff.

Students in the Graduate School of Business and Law School register according to those units' posted procedures. Registration for any quarter, including pre-registration bidding or advance selection of courses, will only be allowed for students in good standing for the current and preceding quarters—who are not restricted for outstanding tuition and fees, immunization, or other reasons.

A web-based registration system is available to students in certain departments in the Graduate Divisions and in certain professional schools pending the approval of their area Deans of Students.

With few exceptions graduate students in any unit wishing to register for a College-level course (course number starting with "1" or "2") may only do so through their area Deans of Students starting the second week of a quarter.

Non-GSB Students in any unit, including the College, wishing to register for a Graduate School of Business course may only do so starting the second week of a quarter with both the permission of the GSB and their own Dean of Students.

8. REGISTRATION STATUS

Effective the Autumn Quarter 2002, a student's official enrollment status is determined by a Registration Status field, coded and/or confirmed by the area Deans of Students. Unless graduated or withdrawn, students will be expected to have a quarterly registration status maintained for every quarter subsequent to matriculation. These registration statuses shall include codes for "Full-Time",

"Half-Time", and "Less-than-Half-Time" enrollment as well as "Not Registered", "Leave of Absence", "Barred", and others. For doctoral students the residence track shall determine which registration statuses are available. For students in first professional, terminal masters, and non-degree programs the registration status is determined by units of registered credit. College students will be considered enrolled Full-Time through the third week of a quarter, at which time the registration status will be adjusted to agree with units of registered credit.

9. cMORE WEB SERVICE

All students are required to use the cMore Web Service : http://cMore.uchicago.edu toupdate their addresses, phone numbers, and other items vital to the University's ability tocommunicate with and report about them. Students use cMore to indicate their choice to have directory information withheld from public release and to enroll in or waive the required student medical insurance plan. Students in the Graduate School of Business use web services provided by that school which are integrated with the cMore service.
