In accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), only directory information may be released to third parties. Enrollment status, dates of attendance and degree information are directory information.
To receive confirmation of a person's claimed status as a current or former student of the University of Chicago and of any degrees conferred, you are directed to proceed to the National Student Clearinghouse, our agent for providing these services.
The National Student Clearinghouse observes and complies with all federal privacy laws.

Hannah, Sr. Associate University Registrar, at the following address: (http://registrar.uchicago.edu/contact/staff.shtml). (Alumni may remove a FERPA holds that were established when they were students, but holds may not be set after separation from the University.) For more information about the University's interpretation of and compliance with FERPA, please refer to the Student Information Manual, wherein these matters are elaborated.
