Chapter 30, 31, 32, 33 (non-Yellow Ribbon), 35, 1606 & 1607 Programs
Any Veteran who needs an enrolllment certification sent to the Veterans' Administration should see the Veterans' Adviser in the Office of the University Registrar. Any student receiving benefits under a public law should be aware that missing, incomplete, or unsatisfactory course grades must be reported to the Veterans' Administration by the University Registrar and could result in the loss of benefits.
Yellow Ribbon Program
The University of Chicago is participating in the new educational initiative for post-9/11 servicemen and women in partnership with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, called the Yellow Ribbon Education Enhancement Program. The Yellow Ribbon Program is part of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008 (commonly known as Chapter 33).

Application Process:
Effective July 1, 2009, the University of Chicago will be accepting applications from veterans to participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program. For the 2009/2010 academic year, applicants must have been admitted into an academic program and have accepted their offer of admission. Acceptance in the Yellow Ribbon Program for eligible students will be on a first-come, first-serve basis, as defined by the University. All the following steps must be completed:
- Complete Application Form. Click here for a copy of the application form.
- Attach a copy of Veteran's Administration Certificate of Eligibility for Yellow Ribbon Program
- Deliver application form and Certificate of Eligibility to the Office of the University Registrar. Fax number is: 773-702-3562. Office hours are Monday-Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Please Note:
- Applications will be deemed incomplete and not considered until all documents have been received.
- Completed applications postmarked or received on or before July 1, 2009 will be date stamped as July 1.
- Applications processed on any given day will be prioritized by Certificate of Eligibility date.
- Program participants will be determined from the pool of completed applications on a first-come, first-served basis for the limited number of spaces.
- Veterans will be contacted by their academic division or school as to their status in the Yellow Ribbon Program.
