Academic Systems Guide

The Office of the University Registrar staff serves as the stewards of student records and academic data, the College Catalog and Graduate Announcements, and central teaching spaces.  To facilitate our processes in this role, we maintain a suite of academic systems for the University.

Academic Information System (my.UChicago)

AIS is the University of Chicago student information system.  AIS is the central system of record for student records, billing, course information and registration, grades, and transcripts at the University of Chicago.  Permission for access to AIS is carefully monitored and can only be authorized by the Office of the University Registrar.  Administrators will only be permitted access to those functions relevant to their position.

Faculty Access

Faculty Access is a suite of online tools specifically designed for faculty and instructors of record who are teaching courses in any given quarter. Functionality includes:  rosters of all courses taught or currently teaching, ability to send Fast Message email to a course roster, ability to generate a photo roster for a course, access to opt-out or add custom questions to the College Evaluation for eligible courses (any College course), ability to submit grades via the Online Grading interface for each course that is eligible, and access to links to order course materials from campus area bookstores.

Student Verification Tool

The Student Verification System allows administrators, depending on their level of access, the ability to look up contact and directory information about University of Chicago Students.

Courseleaf

Courseleaf is the appliation used to create and maintain program and course information published annually in the College Catalog and Graduate Announcements.  Information is edited online by administrators and reviewed by the University Registrar prior to publication.

Classroom Scheduling System

The University's online scheduling application is used by the University Registrar, academic units, and administrative departments to schedule teaching, administrative, and event spaces.  Administrators who have access to the application can schedule their department's proprietary spaces and submit requests to the Office of the University Registrar for the use of centrally scheduled classrooms for classes, meetings, exams, and events.

Requesting Access

Access to the systems listed above is administered by the Office of the University Registrar.  To obtain access for yourself or another administrator, please contact your area Area Dean of Students Office and/or supervisor.  Academic unit super users can find the New Staff Member Access Request form in the Student Services WorkCenter in my.UChicago.

If you have questions about accessing academic systems at the University of Chicago, or need to request training, please contact us at registrar@uchicago.edu.
