Apostille and/or Certification
Upon request, The Office of the University Registrar can provide a notarized transcript or certified copy of a diploma.
If necessary, an Apostille can be issued by the Illinois Secretary of State, certifying the authenticity of educational documents being submitted to foreign countries.
Apostille / Certification Fee
Fees for certification of up to 5 documents are as follows (standard transcript charges apply if requesting a transcript certification):
- Certification (Non-Apostille): $30*
- Apostille (Domestic final destination): $35*
- Apostille (International final destination): $55*
* plus cost of transcripts for those who have not paid a Lifetime Transcript Fee
Apostille / Certification Request
To request certification of your University of Chicago documents, please follow the instructions below and submit the following:
- Submit an Apostille Request or Document Certification Request order through Parchment.
- FOR APOSTILLE ORDERS: Please note you are REQUIRED to upload a completed Secretary of State Application for Apostille to this order.
- If you are requesting a certification of transcripts, please indicate the number in your Parchment order.
- If you are requesting a certification of your diploma, you must upload a clear photocopy of the diploma with your order.
- Once the order has been submitted, you will receive an email when it has been processed.
- Please note that for Apostille Orders, once the orders are processed by the University they are then sent to the Illinois Secretary of State for additional processing, which can take up to two weeks beyond the initial email.
