A transcript is a comprehensive record of academic information that includes coursework, grades, credit hours, GPA and University of Chicago degrees earned. Official transcripts bear the official seal of the University.

Ordering Transcripts

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there may be mail delivery service delays and/or disruptions to some international locations as indicated on the USPS International Service website. Please note that Official eTranscript requests are not affected.

Transcript Fees

$20 per transcript ($22.15 for third-party orders) or free with $100 Lifetime Transcript Fee paid Most students from Autumn 2005 to present have been assessed a Lifetime Transcript Fee that gives them access to free transcripts. The Lifetime Transcript Fee can be paid through the online ordering system prior to placing an order for transcripts.

Processing Time
Orders are generally processed and mailed within 1-3 business days but can take up to 5-7 business days during peak times. Transcript requests for alumni and former students who were at the University for any length of time before Autumn 1979 will require additional processing time (anywhere from 5-10 business days) as their secure records must be retrieved from University Archives.
Delivery Options

ELECTRONIC PDF (not available for those who attended prior to Autumn 1979) – Verify with the intended recipient that an electronic transcript is acceptable before placing your order. You will need the e-mail address of the recipient where they can receive notification regarding when and how to retrieve a certified PDF from our transcript ordering system by email that they can retrieve a certified PDF from our transcript ordering service.

MAIL – Paper transcripts are mailed using standard delivery through the U.S. Postal Service. You may opt for express shipping at an additional cost: $30 domestic destinations, $55 Canada/Mexico, $65 other international destinations.

PICKUP – Transcripts can be held for pick up at the Registrar’s Office. Once you receive a notification email that the transcript is ready, you may pick it up by bringing a photo ID during our normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:30AM-4:30PM). Transcripts left more than 30 days at the Registrar’s Office will be mailed to the requestor at the address in the transcript ordering system.
